SHA-256: the algorithm of Bitcoin mining
SHA-256 is the hash algorithm Bitcoin is mined with, and the one most ASIC miners in the world are built for. Which SHA-256 miners FARMGOD supports and what it shows for them.
SHA-256 is the hash function at the heart of Bitcoin. A miner feeds it block data over and over, each time with a small change, until a result comes out that the network accepts. Bitcoin Cash and a few smaller coins use the same algorithm, so the same machines can mine them.
A machine's hashrate on SHA-256 is counted in terahashes per second (TH/s), a farm's in petahashes and exahashes.
Supported miners
- Antminer: the S and T series, from the S9 to the S21 family and the S23 Hydro.
- Whatsminer: from the M20 to the M73 families, every hardware revision by name.
- AvalonMiner: Canaan's farm models and its home line.
- Sealminer and Auradine Teraflux.
- Small ones: the BitAxe family, NerdQAxe++, the Braiins Mini Miner and more (home mining).
What FARMGOD does with it
SHA-256 is where FARMGOD started, and where it goes deepest:
- Hashrate against spec for every miner, with the low performers listed in Fleet Health.
- Economics. Your electricity price and fees turn hashrate into daily profit, margin and a break-even Bitcoin price.
- Curtailment by efficiency. When power gets expensive, the least efficient machines can be the first to stop.
- Board and chip detail on several firmwares.
Getting started
FARMGOD Cloud is free for up to five miners, with no time limit. Sign up, start FARMGOD.OS on a spare PC in your miners' network and run a scan: your SHA-256 miners appear on your dashboard. Get started shows the three steps. For a whole farm, a Private VPS brings every feature on a server of your own: see the pricing.
